A Play on Ulysses is a unique Bloomsday event in Dublin, a fully dramatised adaptation of Ulysses compressed into 75 action-filled minutes. Eighteen professional actors plus singers, musicians and dancers, combine to provide an entertaining, comic, poignant, enlightening insight into James Joyce’s greatest novel. The play is performed on-street at The Cross in the middle of Blackrock, bringing drama, humour and music straight into the heart of the village.
Nastaise Leddy and Iris Park collaborate to adapt, direct and produce A Play on Ulysses annually, creating an authentic and entertaining experience. Between them they have vast experience of adaptation, directing, writing and production for stage, radio, film and television. The 2017 production attracted an audience of over 400, so come early to get a seat.
The play is supported by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Zurich, The Blackrock Business Network, and the retailers and terrific community of Blackrock.
We have a plan for adverse weather conditions, so hail, rain or shine the show will go on!
