For the 31st year in succession, the award-winning theatre company, Balloonatics, re-enacts Joyce’s Ulysses in its home city. We start with Leopold Bloom’s morning walk at Eccles Street corner at 8 a.m. We then cross town visiting various Joyce sites en route to Westland Row, where we meet opposite Pearse Station at 10 a.m., as Leopold secretly contrives to collect a letter. Find us at the Joyce statue on North Earl Street at 12.15 p.m. and follow Bloom into the hungry belly of the city. Contributions gratefully received at the end of each walk. In the evening, we’ll be upstairs in the Teachers’ Club at 36 Parnell Square at 7.30 p.m. for Humid Nightblue Fruit: dramatised readings of ‘Araby ‘ and ‘Aeolus’ plus an open session at the end. This year’s performers are Paul O’Hanrahan, Chris Bilton and musician, John Goudie.
