International Bloomsday at the National Library of Ireland

On 15 June at 12pm we will hostAn Italian Bloomsday’ (conversation in Italian) - a journey into the presence of James Joyce's works in Italian culture, with Stefano Bartezzaghi, Edoardo Camurri, Fabio Pedone and Enrico Terrinoni.

On Sunday 16 June at 1pm, ‘Love’s Old Sweet Songs: Italian Opera in Joyce’s Ulysses’ - a concert curated by John McCourt featuring a selection of classic Italian opera and some Irish airs and excerpts from ballad opera, central to Joyce’s Ulysses. With Ilaria Zanetti (soprano), Alessandro Cortello (tenor), and Alessandra Sagelli Caoduro (piano). Professor John McCourt (University of Macerata) will give introductions outlining the importance of the arias within Ulysses.

On Sunday 16 June at 3pm we will host a lecture: 'The Words of Ibsen' in association with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dublin. Professor Tore Rem, from the University of Oslo will discuss the influence the life and works of Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen had on the young James Joyce.
