A Play on Ulysses is a dramatised adaptation of Ulysses compressed into 75 action filled minutes. Eighteen professional actors, musicians and dancers, combine to provide an entertaining, comic, poignant, enlightening insight into James Joyce's labyrinthine book. Blackrock Bloomsday 2016 attracted an audience of over 300 so come early and get a seat: the pre-play ambience, created by local musicians and traders offering local cuisine, facilitates an encounter between the Ulysses characters and the characters in the audience.
Iris Park and Nastaise Leddy collaborate to adapt, direct and produce A Play on Ulysses: with their vast experience of adaptation, directing, writing and production for stage, radio, film and television, the 'on-street' element of this event brings an extra layer of theatricality straight to the heart of Blackrock.
A Play on Ulysses is free open air theatre. Come early, get a seat and enjoy the Irish summer (we have a plan for adverse weather conditions so hail, rain or shine the show goes on!)
This event is supported by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, the Blackrock Business Network, and the retailers and community of Blackrock.
