Jewish Dublin in the Time of Ulysses
The Irish Jewish Museum is proud to host two events for the Bloomsday Festival.
On Sunday, 14th June at 10.30am-2pm, we will be open for drop-in visits. Tickets are €10 and be purchased at the door.
On Monday, 15th June at 1pm, we will lead a tour about the Jewish history of Dublin during James Joyce’s time. Visit us in the heart of what was once the Jewish quarter of Portobello. Here you will find memorabilia from Jewish life in Ireland in the early 1900’s. Joyce set Ulysses in 1904, an important year for the burgeoning Jewish community, and he placed Leopold Bloom as the novel’s central character. How did Bloom fit into this community? How did Joyce experience it? Tickets are €10 and must be booked in advance. Email info@jewishmuseum.ie for tickets.
