Joyce’s Puzzle Walk: To Cross Dublin without Passing a Pub

“Good puzzle would be cross Dublin without passing a pub.” Solving a puzzle posed by Leopold Bloom in James Joyce’s Ulysses, our task on this walking tour is to cross central Dublin without passing a pub. No easy task! This route brings us past many interesting buildings and we will mostly use the occasion as an excuse to enjoy Dublin with fresh eyes! Old prisons, banks, post offices and a plethora of historic churches lie along our route but we may also duck and dive down several quite lanes and side-streets to avoid passing the pubs.

This is epic historical and architectural walking tour, diagonally across all central Dublin, from SE to NW and from the Unitarian Church on Saint Stephen Green to Arbour Hill and the terraced streets of Stoneybatter! Led by Arran Henderson of Dublin Decoded Tours, as featured in the Wall Street Journal, Irish Times and RTÉ’s Nationwide. This is the second year of this new walk — full of social, literary and architectural history — and it is always great fun.
