Scylla and Charybdis in the National Library of Ireland

Join us this Bloomsday, Tuesday, 16th June for a special theatrical reading from scenes set in the National Library of Ireland’s iconic Reading Room.

During the performance, Ulysses characters Stephen Dedalus and Buck Mulligan meet the ‘quaker librarian’, NLI’s former Director Thomas William Lyster, and Leopold Bloom consults the NLI’s newspaper collections on a quest to find a back issue of the Kilkenny People.

Performances of the Scylla and Charybdis chapter of Ulysses will start at 2pm and 2.30pm in the Main Reading Room at the National Library of Ireland, Kildare Street.

This reading is recommended for audiences aged 12 and over.

The event is free but booking is essential.
