The Poetry Stroll: A Guided Literary Walking Tour (Sweny’s Pharmacy)
The Poetry Stroll brings Dublin’s literary history to life through poetry and music. This artist-led literary walking tour explores James Joyce’s Dublin, following the artist’s footsteps through the city, guided by song. Though best known as a writer, Joyce was also a singer and poet, and it is through this lens that we encounter his world: Dublin at the beginning of the twentieth century. Starting from Sweny’s Pharmacy, the stroll explores the area around Merrion Square Park, visiting places such as Finn’s Hotel, where Nora Barnacle, Joyce’s wife, once worked, and reflecting on the literary figures who lived and worked in the neighbourhood.
As we walk the streets and visit the places that shaped him, the stroll shines a light on Joyce’s artistic aspirations, creative life and places he later immortalised in Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and Ulysses.
The tours will be daily at the same time.
The Poetry Stroll is organised and led by songwriter R.M. Jacobs. Find out more on www.poetrystroll.com!
