Bloomsday in Brussels
We know what you’re reading this summer…
As part of our Bloomsday and Beyond 2026 campaign, you can get your hands on a brand new Irish fiction book for free (!) when you visit one of our partner book shops across Belgium on 16 June (tomorrow)!
Every year on 16 June, Ireland tips its hat to one of our most iconic literary figures, James Joyce. Bloomsday celebrates Joyce’s epic tale Ulysses, which follows Leopold Bloom wandering through Dublin.
Now its becoming something more, a celebration of the Irish writers who came after.
This year, we celebrate Bloomsday and Beyond, honouring not only Joyce’s revolutionary storytelling, but the Irish writers who came before and after him. The poets, the playwrights, the novelists and all those who have helped make Ireland a literary force far beyond our small size.
For Bloomsday and Beyond 2026, the Embassy in Brussels is excited to partner with three independent bookstores across our consular region.
On 16 June, our partner bookshops will be giving away copies of new Irish fiction to those lucky enough to get there first!
Instagram: Visit @passaportabookshop in Brussels, @pointvirgulenamur in Namur, or @ludditesantwerp in Antwerp and grab a free copy of a book to celebrate Bloomsday!
