From James Joyce to Sally Rooney
The Consulate General of Ireland hosts a lunchtime literary event celebrating Bloomsday & Beyond: Celebrating Ireland, the Island of Writers will focus on the work of James Joyce, and his influence on Irish writers through to present day. Our panellists include Dr Rachel Galvin, University of Chicago and Christopher Burrow, American Writers Museum. Our readers are Josephine Craven (President iBAM (Irish Books and Music Festival) and Margaret Rose Keating (Executive Director, Ireland Network Chicago). We will take a literary journey through to Sally Rooney, including Edna O’Brien and Colm Tóibín. The event will extend to include influences on Irish American writers, and the Irish origins of the American Writers Museum and the museum’s subsequent influence on MoLI in Dublin.
