Bloomsday in Lake Como

What happens when a literary masterpiece leaps from the pages to become a shared gesture? June 16th is Bloomsday, the date when James Joyce and his monumental Ulysses are celebrated around the world. This year, the Casa della Musica, in co-planning with the Acarya Literary Group and within Parolario off, invites you to the first Bloomsday celebration at Lake Como!

Don’t expect a typical conference. It will be a polyphonic event where you can move, listen, pause, and even “tear off” fragments of Joyce’s texts to take home.

Did you know? The connection between Como and Joyce is historic: exactly 100 years ago, in 1926, Como native Carlo Linati published the first Italian translation of Ulysses. For it, Joyce created the famous “Linati Schema,” the compass still used today around the world to decode the novel.
