The Irish Embassy in Kenya was delighted to host Bloomsday and Beyond, an inspiring afternoon of captivating performances, dialogue and celebration of Irish and Kenyan literature. The event brought together literature enthusiasts and great engagement and discussions on the legacy of Irish writer James Joyce and the power of literature in building bridges across cultures.
Every year on 16 June, Ireland celebrates Bloomsday, a day that marks James Joyce’s epic tale Ulysses, which follows Leopold Bloom’s day and night of wandering through Dublin. On Bloomsday we honour Irish writers who came before and after James Joyce and pay tribute to the written word.
