Bloomsday in Salerno
The 12th Salernitan edition of Bloomsday, international literary event dedicated to the famous Irish writer James Joyce, this year stops at Nocera Inferiore. Every June 16th, the date when the entire novel takes place, in many parts of the world, whether you love Joyce or hate her, millions of people find themselves celebrating this unique event. Ulysses is the best known novel in the world and paradoxically the least read. With the aim of making a masterpiece fruition that would otherwise remain ingested, Bloomsday, even in Salerno, for 12 years, has been standing in support of a vision, a real cultural undertaking.
On the 11th of June, stop at Nocera: Bruna Autuori (artistic director of Bloomsday) intervenes to talk about Joyce, her life and her masterpiece. Next, Francesco Petti, director and playwright, accompanied by short comments by Bruna Autuori will read short excerpts from Ulysses walking through the highlights of the novel.
