We will be celebrating Bloomsday on June 16th in three different locations. At Rönnells antiquariat in Stockholm, The English Bookshop in Uppsala and in Helsinki at the Rosebud bookstore. All three will also be in collaboration with the Irish embassies in Sweden and Finland, respectively.

We celebrate June 16th with a gathering where we discuss Ulysses and read from the book, between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. This year we are pleased to have Erik Andersson join us. Erik is the one who translated Ulysses for us last, and who also described the process in ‘Day Out and Day In About a Day in Dublin’. The program looks like this:
6:00 PM. Ireland’s ambassador Barbara Jones and the chairman of the Joyce Society will begin
6:10 PM. Panel discussion with Erik Andersson. Jonas Ellerström moderator, Christina Hellman and Kim Forss will begin with questions and reflections.
6:45 PM. Mingling and ‘refleshments’
7:15 PM. We will read from Ulysses together under the leadership of Christina Hellman.
8:00 PM. Closing

Celebrate Bloomsday with us to commemorate the 16 June 1904 the day immortalized in James Joyce’s novel Ulysses .
All day long: Drop in and read a passage from Joyce’s masterpiece, to yourself or aloud — the stage is yours!

Rosebud Helsinki
Arrangement in collaboration with JJSSF, the bookstore and the Irish Embassy. Functions as an open reading circle where Lauri Niskanen from JJSSF has an introductory presentation and then the Circe chapter is discussed.
Irish music with Barry McCormack concludes the evening.
